Why is this website relevant to me?
The information included in this website aims to better your writing skills. Not only will this help your grade in my class, it will be beneficial to your work in future classes. Throughout high school, you will have to continue writing similar papers to those in this class. Even into college you will be required to do similar assignments.
Upcoming...
You will do a variety of projects in English II. Since this is the year that you will take your Ohio Graduation Tests, you will spend time practicing writing for those. This means that you will get to write persuasive essays, creative narratives, research papers, and more. There will also be other assignments that all 10th graders must complete; these will be similar to the OGT practice writing.
When I assign each paper to you, I will also provide you with a rubric outlining how I will grade. In general, I will check your writing for grammatical errors, including punctuation and spelling. I will also check to make sure that you meet all the requirements, which will differ depending on the essay. Taking some of the tips from this website into consideration is a great way to help each assignment's score!
This website is full of tips to help improve your writing. As outlined by the different page tabs above, you can find information about both creative and scholarly writing. There is also information about writer's letters. We will do many writing activities in class that will fall under these genres.
